THE SOSUISHI-RYU JUjUSTU KAI (SJJK) is the only association authorized by the Shitama family to award promotions in Sosuishi(tsu)-ryu Jujutsu. It was founded by the 15th Inheritor of Sosuishi-ryu, Master Shusaku (Shuzu) Shitama on July 5th, 1963 in Fukuoka, Japan. In fact, the 16th inheritor of Sosuishi-ryu Jujutsu, Master Manzo Shitama serves as the Director. Dennis Fink Sensei of New York was appointed by Master Shitama as the International Director of the Sosuishi-ryu Jujutsu Kai. In addition, he is the senior master instructor of Sosuishi-ryu Jujutsu, next to Master Shitama himself.

The International Headquarters is the record center for complete and accurate files of all administrative matters pertaining to and concerning Sosuishi-ryu Jujutsu. The files contain the names, locations and districts of all Sosuishi-ryu Dojo, Branch and District representatives, members names, grading achievements, etc.

ALL MEMBERS receive a "Certificate of Membership" signed by the 16th headmaster, Manzo Shitama, and ALL BLACK BELTS receive certificates of promotion from Master Shitama in Japan as well.

Although many claim to hold grades in Sosuishi-ryu very few actually do. The Sosuishi-ryu Jujutsu Kai prides itself in maintaining quality not quantity and is governed by very strict rules in regard to character as well as physical ability. Consequently, not everyone is accepted as a student/member and those that are accepted are constantly evaluated. As they advance they are judged more and more on attitude and intent as well as physical ability.

Anyone interested in AUTHENTIC Sosuishi-ryu Jujutsu as passed down from father to son since 1650 may contact the International Headquarters for the name(s) and location(s) of legitimate, recognized instructors.

Promotions given by anyone other than an SJJK certified instructor in good standing, will not be recognized by the International or Japan Headquarters.
